Amazon adds annual plan to Prime grocery subscription

Amazon Prime grocery subscription
Amazon Prime has an annual grocery delivery plan.

Amazon is expanding the ways Prime members can receive unlimited grocery delivery for a price.

Following the successful launch of its monthly grocery delivery subscription benefit in April 2024, Amazon is introducing an annual plan of $99.99 per year for the benefit that provides Prime members unlimited free delivery on grocery delivery for orders over $35 across Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and a variety of local grocery and specialty retailers on Amazon.com.

Prime members have the opportunity to get two months free if they sign up for the annual plan. In addition, Amazon is making the discounted grocery delivery subscription benefit of $4.99 per month available to all members of the Prime Access program for government assistance recipients, regardless of their qualifying form of government assistance. This saves Prime Access customers $60 on a grocery delivery subscription compared to the monthly option for Prime members.

Available to Prime members in more than 3,500 cities and towns across the U.S., the subscription includes one-hour delivery windows at no extra cost, unlimited 30-minute pickup on orders of any size, and priority access to the Recurring Reservations advance scheduling feature for a weekly grocery order.

"We strive to offer the best grocery shopping experience for all Amazon customers, and providing exclusive savings to Prime members — whether you're browsing the aisles or filling your online cart," said Tony Hoggett, senior VP of worldwide grocery stores at Amazon. "After the success of our monthly grocery delivery subscription launch earlier this year, we’re thrilled to offer Prime members in over 3,500 U.S. cities and towns two months free if they sign up for the new annual plan that provides even better value.

According to Amazon, this benefit provides access to a selection of nearly 100,000 grocery items across Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and participating local grocery and specialty retailers.

"We’re also excited to bring our grocery subscription at a discounted price to more customers," said Hoggett. "Now, all Prime Access members, regardless of their qualifying form of government assistance, can enjoy the same monthly plan as Prime members at 50% off, saving $60 on the grocery delivery subscription."
