Albertsons targets Rite Aid pharmacy customers, workers

Albertsons is encouraging Rite Aid customers to shift their business.

Albertsons Cos. is reaching out to customers and employees of Rite Aid as the pharmacy retailer is winding down operations.

Albertsons, which operates 1,728 in-store pharmacies, is publicly inviting Rite Aid customers to fill or transfer their prescriptions and employees impacted by the company’s recent bankruptcy to apply for available positions at its pharmacies and stores.

According to Rite Aid, it has entered a series of sale agreements and pharmacy services transition agreements that include moving pharmacy assets from more than 1,000 Rite Aid locations across the U.S. to operators that include CVS Pharmacy as well as Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger and Giant Eagle.

Following are brief overviews of how Albertsons is encouraging Rite Aid customers and associates to bring their business and their talents to its stores.

Customers

Rite Aid customers can transfer to an Albertsons pharmacy through the Albertsons grocery app or website. Albertsons pharmacy teams are available to address clinical-related questions, assisting healthcare decisions and provide consultations on vaccination history. 

Customers of Rite Aid can also make vaccination appointments in store or online using the Albertsons vaccine appointment scheduler available on the grocery app or website.

Employees

Albertsons is inviting Rite Aid employees impacted by the company’s recent bankruptcy to apply for available positions at its pharmacies and stores. Pharmacy positions include pharmacist, technician, clerk, manager and corporate roles.

Store positions vary and include cashier, stocker, specialized roles in the deli, bakery or butcher, and store management.

As of Feb. 22, 2025, Albertsons operated 2,270 retail stores with 1,728 in-store pharmacies, 405 associated fuel centers, 22 dedicated distribution centers and 19 manufacturing facilities across 34 states and the District of Columbia under more than 20 banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets and Balducci's Food Lovers Market.
