Albertsons books travel for loyalty members via Expedia partnership

Albertsons loyalty members have a new travel perk.

Albertsons Companies Inc. is adding a major new perk to its rewards program in partnership with a leading travel services platform.

Albertsons is launching "for U Travel," a new travel booking experience based on Expedia technology and services that rewards members of the grocer’s free for U  loyalty offering with cash back on both air and non-air travel. for U Travel allows customers to plan and book trips directly through the Albertsons banner for U app or website.

“At Albertsons Cos., we know saving money and stretching budgets is more important than ever which is why we’re always looking for new ways to bring additional value and ease to our customers," said Manjari Mehrotra, VP loyalty for Albertsons Cos. "for U Travel extends our loyalty experience beyond the grocery store and rewards our customers for something they already do – travel."

Available as of Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, for U Travel is a new feature within the for U program accessible via mobile app and website, providing customers with a seamless travel booking experience that provides them member-only deals on flights, hotels, car rentals and vacation packages.

Members of the free for U loyalty program that book air and non-air travel through the platform can earn up to 5% cash back to use toward grocery purchases at any Albertsons Cos. banner stores. In addition, members of the optional paid Albertsons FreshPass loyalty program can earn up to 10% cash back.

"We’re excited about this new partnership, which uses our white label template solution to power more traveler experiences and loyalty programs."

As of June 14, 2025, Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons Companies operated 2,264 retail stores with 1,725 in-store pharmacies, 408 associated fuel centers, 22 dedicated distribution centers and 19 manufacturing facilities. The company operates stores across 35 states and the District of Columbia under 22 banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, Acme Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets and Balducci's Food Lovers Market.
