Ahold Delhaize USA brands are back online.

Ahold Delhaize USA’s five U.S. regional grocery banners are back to operating their e-commerce sites and apps following a cyberattack earlier this month.

The e-commerce sites and consumer apps of the Stop and Shop, Food Lion, Hannaford, The Giant Company and Giant Food banners of Ahold Delhaize USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Dutch supermarket conglomerate Ahold Delhaize, are all back to normal operations, including online pickup and delivery services, as of Wednesday, Oct. 21.

In an email to Chain Store Age, a spokesperson for Food Lion said that while the investigation is ongoing, the retailer currently sees no evidence that “any sensitive customer, associate or partner data was taken” in the incident.

"We are pleased to have FoodLion.com and the Food Lion app back online as we know our customers count on us to provide an easy, fresh and affordable shopping experience,” said Greg Finchum, president, Food Lion, in a statement in the email. “Over the past several days, we were unable to provide the digital experience our customers expect and deserve, and for that, we're truly sorry.”

As of Monday, Oct. 12, the individual e-commerce sites for Food Lion, The Giant Company, Giant Food, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop banners all had a notice on their homepages stating they were temporarily down due to a technical issue. Since fall 2025, all five sites have been running on the same proprietary e-commerce platform.

At that time, a note on the Ahold Delhaize USA main website said the company was “experiencing a security issue” within its network and taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue, including taking some systems offline. The company’s brick-and-mortar stores remained open and served customers during the online outage.

In a posting on the Ahold Delhaize USA corporate site, CEO Claire Peters said that its companies are back online after responding to a cybersecurity incident that created business disruption. "Protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority and as a result, we took some of our systems offline – including our brands’ websites and applications," Peters said in the statement.

In November 2024, a ransomware attack on Ahold Delhaize USA exposed the personal data of more than 2 million employees, including names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, health information, government-issued ID numbers such as passports and driver’s licenses, postal addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth.

Food Lion, Giant make special online offers

Food Lion and Giant are both offering special discounts to online shoppers as a gesture of appreciation following the breach. Food Lion is offering $15 off Instacart orders of $75 or more and $30 off DoorDash orders of $75 or more through Friday, Oct. 23.

Food Lion is also offering $10 off a $50 purchase for all MVP loyalty program customers through the end of the month and will offer free pickup or delivery via its Food Lion to Go service through its Food Lion To Go service with $75 minimum order from Oct. 22-31, as well as what it says will be additional savings opportunities for e-commerce shoppers, MVP card holders and participants in its Shop & Earn rewards program.

Meanwhile, Giant is offering $20 off any online order of $75 or more with a special promotional code and 500 extra rewards points to members of its Flexible Rewards program. Flexible Rewards points that would have expired on Oct. 31 are being extended until Monday, Nov. 30.

This is a developing story and Chain Store Age will continue to provide updates.
