Adobe: Memorial Day online spending to approach $11B

Adobe is predicting an increase in Memorial Day spending.

E-commerce retailers are set to have a happy Memorial Day weekend.

In an email to Chain Store Age, an Adobe spokesperson said the company expects consumers to spend $10.8 billion online during the upcoming Memorial Day three-day weekend (May 23-25), representing 6% year-over-year growth. For the full month of May, Adobe predicts online spending of $99.7 billion, up 7.1% from May 2025.

According to Adobe analysis, consumers will take advantage of discounts ranging from 8 to 10% across e-commerce categories to purchase items they have already been considering.  

Expected discounts across categories tracked by Adobe:  

 May 23 (Saturday) 

  • Electronics (10% off listed price). 
  • Sporting goods (10% off listed price). 
  • Televisions (8% off listed price). 

May 24 (Sunday) 

  • Furniture & bedding (10% off listed price) 
  • Appliances (8% off listed price) 
  • Toys (8% off listed price)  

May 25 (Monday) 

  • Apparel (10% off listed price) 
  • Home & garden (9% off listed price) 

Hot selling categories

During the weekend of May 16-17, Adobe observed early deals already driving an online sales uptick across product categories. For mattresses, online sales were up 65%, while online sales were also up 45% for activewear and 35% for kids’ apparel as Adobe says consumers took advantage of early deals to stock up on clothing for the summer.

  • Air conditioners (up 170 to 200%). 
  • Grills and smokers (up 130% to 170%). 
  • Vacuum cleaners (up 70 to 90%). 
  • Refrigerators & freezers (up 55 to 75%). 

Apparel 

  • Active sportswear (up 110 to 130%). 
  • Children’s apparel (up 65% to 85%). 
  • Men’s suits (up 60 to 80%). 
  • Footwear (up 50 to 70%). 

Sporting goods 

  • Bicycles (up 140 to 160%).    
  • Pool equipment (up 120 to 140%) .
  • Camping gear (up 110 to 130%). 

Furniture 

  • Mattresses (up 150 to 170%) 
  • Patio furniture (up 90 to 110%). 
  • Bedroom furniture (up to 80 to 100%). 
  • Bedroom furniture (up to 70 to 90%). 

Electronics 

  • Televisions (up 100 to 120%). 
  • Smartwatches and fitness trackers (up 70 to 90%). 
  • Smartphones (up 45 to 65%).
