1-800-Flowers BloomNet network offers extra delivery capacity via Uber
A 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. subsidiary is partnering with Uber to help ensure florists can handle peak delivery demand periods.
The online floral gift retailer is now collaborating with Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, in time for the major floral holiday of Valentine’s Day. Through this partnership, members of 1-800-Flowers.com’s BloomNet network of local florists can seamlessly tap into Uber Direct’s delivery technology and network.
As a result, florists who are part of BloomNet and using the BloomNet proprietary business management system (BMS) can gain instant access to additional drivers during peak holiday rushes.
"Valentine’s is one of the most important and demanding weeks for florists," said Jon Feldman, president of BloomNet. "This year, we anticipate delivering about 24 million stems for the holiday. We understand the logistical delivery challenges surrounding peak holidays such as Valentine’s Day, so we’ve teamed up with Uber Direct to provide our network with additional support."
Leveraging Uber’s logistics capabilities, BloomNet florists using BMS can dynamically dispatch, track, and fulfill same-day floral deliveries, even as demand spikes.
Uber Direct allows retailers to maintain full control over the customer experience, offering white-label delivery without redirecting buyers to third-party apps. This collaboration is now live across the U.S. in more than 1,000 BloomNet network shops. 1-800-Flowers.com accepts floral orders for same-day delivery through 3 p.m. local time in most parts of the country, and up to 6 p.m. local time in select markets.
"We’re thrilled to join forces with 1-800-Flowers.com year-round, but especially to make this Valentine’s Day gifting seamless," said Kiran Vinta, head of Uber Direct for the U.S. & Canada at Uber. "With Uber Direct, florists can meet increased demand without logistical bottlenecks, ensuring that no bouquet—or heartfelt sentiment—goes undelivered."
