WSS streamlines checkout with mobile-first POS platform

A Foot Locker subsidiary is reducing checkout queues in its stores along with its hardware footprint.

WSS, a footwear, apparel and accessories retailer that was acquired by Foot Locker Inc. in 2021, is deploying the Aptos One POS platform across more than 100 stores in the United States. The platform is a mobile-first application that WSS hopes will streamline and enhance in-store experiences for both shoppers and associates while cutting back on POS hardware.

As it pursues new store openings, WSS is investing in technologies that it feels will make its stores adaptive to new trends and market shifts, making the retailer interested in the extensibility of the Aptos platform. WSS has also found the solution offers an intuitive user interface and functionality, easing the training of its associates on it.

"Building authentic relationships with our customers is core to who we are at WSS," said Sarah Derba, senior director, IT at WSS. "With Aptos One POS, we see an opportunity for our associates to be ‘untethered’ from behind registers so they can interact freely with shoppers throughout the store. Running the software on mobile devices, associates have at their fingertips all the information they need to serve customers optimally, including customer preferences and purchase history, real-time inventory information, access to promotional offers, and more."

In addition, for almost 10 years, WSS has been leveraging Aptos software to support enterprise workflows such as inventory management, CRM, order fulfillment, transaction auditing and performance analytics.
