Sellers on the Walmart Marketplace third-party e-commerce platform can analyze, track and fulfill orders with a cloud-based logistics solution.
Supply chain and fulfillment platform ShipBob is integrating with Walmart Marketplace to provide two-day shipping for small-to-medium-sized retailers within the continental U.S. ShipBob also supports fulfillment for Walmart Marketplace orders outside of the two-day delivery program.
ShipBob also provides Walmart Marketplace sellers a single view of their inventory, orders and shipments across all sales channels and locations. Leveraging the solution, sellers can obtain advanced analytics that provide insights into shipping performance, inventory allocation and fulfillment costs.
Walmart is boosting its ability to offer retailers on its Walmart Marketplace platform two-day shipping as third-party online marketplaces heat up as an option for smaller retailers to break through in the broader e-commerce vertical. For small businesses, a third-party online marketplace can provide a ready-made storefront, customer base, and fulfillment network.
For large retailers like Walmart, third-party marketplaces enable the rapid and cost-effective expansion of product assortment. Underscoring the emergence of the marketplace model as a major e-commerce channel is the recent $775 million funding round closed by Perch, a technology-driven commerce company which specializes in purchasing small brands that sell on third-party platforms such as Amazon Marketplace and Walmart Marketplace.
"Helping our sellers have access to two-day delivery options is a key priority for Walmart,” said Jeff Clementz, senior VP of Walmart Marketplace. “We're happy to be working with ShipBob and see this relationship as a big advantage for our sellers and customers.”
"We are excited about the strides Walmart is making in e-commerce," said Dhruv Saxena, CEO and co-founder of ShipBob. "Our mission is to democratize fulfillment for companies of all sizes, which is why we are excited to partner closely with best-in-class platforms like Walmart Marketplace. Together, we can now open our US fulfillment network to their sellers."
