Walmart is expanding its involvement in administering Medicare plans.

The discount giant is collaborating with not-for-profit Medicare provider Scan Health Plan to offer a co-branded Medicare Advantage plan in two unidentified states, which is expected to be available to more than two million Medicare enrollees.

As part of the collaboration, and Walmart and Scan will connect their co-branded Medicare Advantage offering more closely with Walmart’s health and wellness products and services, as well as the retailer’s technology capabilities. Pending regulatory review and approval, the plan may provide pharmacy and vision services, and food and over-the-counter (OTC) benefits.

Walmart will integrate the plan with Everyday Health Signals, a proprietary artificial intelligence platform designed to support day-to-day decisions for better health and wellbeing by utilizing real-time retail insights and targeted benefit delivery. The retailer also recently extended the offering to eligible Medicare Advantage and Medicaid members who opt in via Soda Health, as well as to NationsBenefits members.
