Walmart customers have a new option to order and obtain cash back on grocery products.
Walmart is partnering with Ibotta, a provider of mobile and online rewards and payments, to enable customers to digitally order groceries and earn cash back on hundreds of items. In the Ibotta app or site, customers navigate to Walmart grocery from the home page and then link their Ibotta account to their Walmart grocery account. Customers must have a Walmart grocery account to use the Ibotta service.
Shoppers then browse offers available at Walmart, add desired promotions to their list, and place order for pickup or delivery from within their Walmart grocery account. Customers will receive automatic cash back on eligible offers within 24 hours after placing their order. Ibotta will not provide cash back on product substitutions.
Walmart has been attempting to expand access to its online grocery service during the COVID-19 pandemic. The retailer has been integrating its previously siloed digital grocery offering into its app, e-commerce site and mobile app. And Walmart Canada recently began accepting PayPal, marking PayPal’s entry into the Canadian grocery market.
