A key executive in Walmart’s new health care focus is leaving.
Sean Slovenski, senior VP and president of health and wellness at Walmart U.S., is departing. The news was announced in an email to employees from Walmart U.S. president and CEO John Furner.
“Sean and I have been discussing this transition the past several weeks, as he and his team have successfully stood up the strategy we hired him to create,” Furner’s email stated. “Thanks to Sean and team, we have made great progress on creating an organization within Walmart to provide affordable, accessible, essential health care to our customers in the form of Walmart Health centers.”
Slovenski, who has been with Walmart since 2018, has led the retailer’s health-and-wellness efforts, including the launch of the chain's freestanding health care clinics, Walmart Health, which debuted in fall 2019, in Dallas, Georgia, and is now expanding to other markets.
Additionally, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Slovenski oversaw the rollout of COVID-19 testing sites at Walmart locations nationwide.
