Uber is expanding its delivery capabilities in Turkey.

Uber Technologies Inc. has reached an agreement with Getir investor Mubadala Investment Company, which manages a global portfolio for the government of Abu Dhabi, to purchase the Turkish delivery business of Turkish ultrafast delivery platform Getir for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2015 and based in Istanbul, Getir offers everyday items, including chocolate, water, dairy, cleaning materials, snack chips and pet food for delivery to customers within 10 minutes.

Getir made its U.S. debut in Chicago in November 2021 and then expanded operations in the U.S. to New York City and Boston. However, in April 2024 the company exited the U.S., U.K. and European markets, where it generated 7% of its revenues, to focus on its core market of Turkey.

Getir’s U.S. FreshDirect subsidiary, which it purchased from Ahold Delhaize USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Dutch supermarket conglomerate Ahold Delhaize, for an undisclosed sum in December 2023, is not included in this deal.

"With a thriving digital economy and a dynamic consumer base, Uber is committed to investing in Turkey for the long term,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. "By bringing together these leading platforms, we aim to support the continued growth of a vibrant and competitive ecosystem, that delivers even more value for consumers, couriers, and merchants."

In 2025, Uber acquired a majority stake in the Turkish delivery platform Trendyol Go. The company says it will combine the “unique strengths” of Getir and Trendyol Go to increase selection for consumers and support more delivery opportunities for drivers.

Getir customers will continue to have access to delivery services through the Getir “super app” with the addition of restaurants from Trendyol Go. Meanwhile, Trendyol Go customers will gain access to Getir’s grocery offerings directly through the Trendyol Go app.

"This agreement is a significant milestone for Getir and is a testament to the strong operating model and leading brand our team has built in our home market of Turkey," said Batuhan Gultakan, CEO of Getir. "We are excited to bring Getir’s pioneering ultrafast delivery expertise to Uber’s global ecosystem, as we continue to enhance the experience for consumers, couriers, restaurants, and retailers. We are proud of what we have achieved with the support of Mubadala and look forward to the next chapter of growth as part of the Uber family."
