  • City Furniture expands in Florida

    Taramac, Fla. — Furniture retailer City Furniture is completing a $17.5 realignment of its South Florida retail network with the opening of a new 34,000-sq.-ft. Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Cutler Bay, Florida. This location is adjacent to a 56,000-sq.-ft. City Furniture showroom that opened in October 2013, creating a 90,000-sq.-ft. superstore.

  • Simon and elevate Digital to launch digital concierge network in retail centers

    INDIANAPOLIS — Simon, a leading global retail real estate company, has announced a collaboration with elevate Digital, a developer of interactive digital technology, to install "digital concierge" solutions in a number of Simon's U.S. retail properties.

    The interactive displays will provide Simon mall visitors with a virtual way-finding experience to help them navigate the mall, find deals, events, promotions and also take relevant information with them on a mobile device.

  • Warby Parker to open 1950s classroom-styled store in Dallas

    New York — Online eyewear retailer is opening its sixth retail location, a 1,050-sq.-ft. store in Dallas. It will open on June 18.

  • Baker Katz sells Cleveland, Texas, shopping center

    Cleveland, Texas — Baker Katz has sold the 11,438-sq.-ft. Cleveland Shopping Center in Cleveland, Texas. Baker Katz facilitated the transaction with a local investor. Financial details remain private.

  • lululemon to Town Center of Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va. — lululemon has leased a 3,200-sq.-ft. store at the Town Center of Virginia Beach. Like recently announced Anthropologie and Free People, lululemon will be the first and only store of its kind to open in Hampton roads, Virginia. In addition, Destination Maternity and It’s Sugar recently opened at The Town Center. lululemon plans to open during the fourth quarter of this year.

  • Dollar General to open stores in three new states

    Goodlettsville, Tenn. — Dollar General plans to expand its nationwide presence into three new states within the next year, increasing the company’s presence to 43 states across the country. The discount retailer will begin construction on stores in Maine and Rhode Island in fall 2014, with plans to expand into Oregon in early 2015.

  • Free People to open first Hampton Roads store

    Virginia Beach, Va. — Free People has signed a lease for 3,200 sq. ft. at the Town Center of Virginia Beach. The retailer plans to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2014.

  • Trademark expands Saddle Creek in Memphis suburbs

    Fort Worth, Texas — Trademark Property Co. is managing the major expansion and renovation of Saddle Creek in the Memphis, Tenn., suburb of Germantown.

    Demolition has commenced on 20,000 sq. ft. of existing space on the southwest side of Poplar Avenue and West Street, with work scheduled to begin soon on 40,000 sq. ft. of new retail space for that area.
