  • Ann Inc. reaches emission goal three years ahead of plan

    New York -- Ann Inc. said Monday it has already surpassed its 2015 emission goal by reducing its carbon footprint by 8% per square foot.

    The parent of Ann Taylor and Loft has now upped its objective, setting a new goal of reducing emissions per square foot by 30% by 2015.

    The to-date reductions in carbon emissions were achieved through the implementation of key programs ranging from the installation of in-store energy-efficient lighting to behavioral change campaigns for associates.

  • Canada’s Holt Renfrew expanding and remodeling chain

    Toronto -- Holt Renfrew will open a flagship store in spring 2016 at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga. The store, planned at approximately 120,000 sq.-ft., is part of the company's aggressive growth plan, which will result in a 40% expansion of the total square footage of Holt Renfrew's network.

    In addition to the new Square One site, a number of Holt Renfrew stores will be renovated and expanded, with some completely rebuilt.

  • Report: Apple taps Foster + Partners to update store design

    New York -- Apple has tapped Foster + Partners to refresh its store design, according to a report by Marketing.

    The London-based architectural company has a history with Apple. It was hired by the late Steve Jobs to help design and create Apple’s new UFO-styled corporate headquarters, which is still under construction.
     

  • Bloomingdale's and Me-Ality to roll out in-store sizing stations

    New York -- Digital sizing station company Me-Ality said Monday that Bloomingdale’s has partnered with Me-Ality to provide enhanced denim services by installing digital sizing stations in five Bloomingdale’s stores.

    New York -- Store development and facilities professionals from some of the nation’s biggest retail and restaurant chains gathered in Dallas, Texas, to attend Chain Store Age’s 49th annual SPECS Conference, March 17-20, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.   

  • Ahold USA adds six more LEED stores to its fleet

    New York -- Ahold USA, a division of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold, said six newly built stores had received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The locations include four stores in the Stop & Shop New England and New York Metro divisions, one in the Giant-Landover division and one in the Giant-Carlisle division.

  • Schimenti announces its first project for Vince Camuto

    Ridgefield, Conn. -- Fashion-forward retailer and designer Vince Camuto has tapped Schimenti Construction to build his new store at 667 Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

    Located across from Barney’s, the location will join Vince Camuto’s two existing stores in Manhattan, along with its upcoming location in the Flatiron district.
