  • Walmart opens massive online center

    Walmart is bringing 1,500 jobs to Florida as it continues to expand its e-commerce fulfillment network.  
  • Visa will pay some merchants to go cashless

    Visa Inc. is doing its best to usher in the cashless future.    The credit card giant has announced a new initiative, called the Visa Cashless Challenge, which will incentivize small merchants to move away from cash payments. Using an application-based format, Visa will award approximately $10,000 each to 50 eligible U.S.-based small business food service owners, including food truck owners.  
  • Jet.com makes a move to streamline urban deliveries

    Walmart’s e-commerce arm is making it easier for New Yorkers — especially those without a doorman — to get their deliveries.   Jet.com is teaming up with Latch, a provider of smart building access technologies, to integrate a reader-style electronic access product in 1,000 buildings in New York City. The installation, which is being paid for by the partners, will give more than 100,000 residents the ability to retrieve orders electronically, according to TechCrunch.  
  • Amazon scores important win in huge foreign market

    Amazon has won the right to sell groceries in India.   The online giant currently sells groceries in India through a local partner. But it recently secured government approval to stock and sell its own food items, reported the Nikkei Asian Review.

    With plans to triple its store portfolio in six years, Parfois needs to expertly anticipate demand and gain global visibility into its inventory.   By partnering with Oracle, the accessories retailer is one step closer to scaling its operations. Parfois added the Oracle Retail Merchandise Operations Suite and the Oracle Retail Warehouse Management System — two solutions that will support the company’s high growth and international expansion plans.  
  • BDO: The top risk factors for retailers are....

    Consumer confidence remains strong, but that's not stopping retailers from worrying about the economy.   General economic conditions ranked as a top risk factor for the 9th consecutive year in an annual ranking of the top 25 risk factors by retailers, cited by 100% of respondents. Cybersecurity and regulatory concerns shared the top spot with the economy.  
  • Study: EMV is shifting fraud online

    A new fraud pattern is emerging.    For 84% of U.S.-based companies, EMV has lowered their fraud prevention costs. However, 52% of retailers said their card not present (CNP) losses are growing.   This is according to the “2017 Global Payments Insight Survey: Merchants and Retailers,” from ACI Worldwide and Ovum. The study tapped 1,475 payments executives globally in December, 2016 -January, 2017.
