Target Corp.is showcasing its commitment to style and accessible design — and the creative talent bringing the concepts to life — with a limited-time, immersive presentation in New York City.

The discounter’s “Target By Design” experience is located at the New Museum on the city’s Lower East Side. Running Sept. 10-12, the experience looks to bring Target’s design approach to life through everyday objects such as the Target shopping cart elevated to the status of art, reinterpretations of the iconic Target bag by leading and emerging creative talent, and past iconic collaborations with Michael Graves, Missoni Marimekko and more.

"Target by Design celebrates our long-standing commitment to making great design accessible, while showcasing the creative talent and ideas shaping what's next," said Michelle Mesenburg, chief brand officer atTarget. "Across every aspect of our business and brand experience, our belief in the power of great design for all guides how we deliver what our guests have come to expect from Target: amazing style, thoughtful design and incredible value."

Designed as a “pop-art play zone,” the experience features three immersive environments. As they explore the spaces, visitors will find everything from reimagined everyday products to original artist interpretations of the iconic Target bag by leading and emerging creative talent. They can also customize a bag using heat-pressed graphics, scarves, keychains and pins.

The experience also explores Target's design history, highlighting iconic collaborations and innovations that include pieces from Michael Graves, Marimekko and Missoni.

On Sept. 12, the event will expand to Target’s SoHo store,  where customers can participate in an interactive customization experience featuring exclusive Target bags from the design presentation and new-for-fall denim styles.

Target By Design comes on the heels of the discounter’s announcement to open eight new stores across the nation in October and November — the last of the more than 30 planned stores Target is opening this year
