Target begins offering Black Friday deals

Target holiday
Black Friday has kicked off at Target.

Target Corp. is following in the footsteps of two of its biggest rivals by not waiting for Nov. 29 to launch its Black Friday promotion.

The discount giant, which already announced most of its stores will open at 6 a.m. (local time) on Black Friday, which falls on Nov. 29 this year (for the fifth consecutive year, Target stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28), is now releasing a lineup of Black Friday deals available Thursday, Nov. 21 – Saturday, Nov. 30 online and in stores.

Target will offer what it says are some of its lowest prices of the season on thousands of items across its entire assortment, including up to 50% off tech, apparel, video games, board games, small appliances, luggage, holiday trees and other must-have items for gifting and gathering.

Major Target competitors Amazon and Walmart have also already begun their Black Friday sales events. The retailer will also offer more holiday discounts across its assortment from Sun., Nov. 24 through Sat., Nov. 30. There will be additional three-day-only deals debuting Thursday, Nov 28 through Sat., Nov. 30, with what Target says are twice as many deals as in the same period in 2023.

Target will immediately follow its Black Friday promotion with a two-day Cyber Monday event Sun., Dec. 1 – Mon., Dec. 2 featuring a new lineup of deals available exclusively on Target.com and the Target app.

Most Target stores will open at 6 a.m. local time on Black Friday. Starting on Black Friday, Target will offer two exclusive Taylor Swift releases (available only while supplies last).

The Taylor Swift items include the official “Taylor Swift/The Eras Tour,” which provides behind-the-scenes look at the making and performance of the superstar’s Eras tour, and "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology" album on vinyl and CD.

These products will be available exclusively at Target in stores only on Black Friday and will then become available on the Target app and on Target.com starting Saturday, Nov. 30.

Beyond Black Friday and for the rest of the holiday season, Target is offering extended store shopping hours of 7 a.m. to midnight, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 23.

"Black Friday is all about great deals, so Target is offering some of our best prices of the season to help everyone save money as they share the magic of the holidays with their loved ones," said Rick Gomez, executive VP and chief commercial officer, Target. "Amazing deals across our unrivaled assortment, an easy shopping experience and a whole lot of joy in our stores and online — this is what makes shopping at Target so special. We can't wait to share all of that and more with consumers as they renew old traditions and make new memories this year."

Minneapolis-based Target Corporation operates nearly 2,000 stores and an e-commerce site.
