Sur La Table will open two stores this summer and one in the fall.
Sur La Table is expanding on a number of fronts.
The kitchen and culinary retailer, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last September, is continuing its brand growth with new store openings, the expansion of its private label and the continued evolution of its culinary program.
Sur La Table Table will be re-entering the market of Natick, Mass., with a location at the Natick Mall. It also will open stores at Stuyvesant Plaza, Albany, N.Y., and at Darien Commons, Darien, Conn. The Natick and Albany stores are slated to open this July. The Darien store will open in September.
The new locations will feature the experiential retail activations that mark current Sur La Table stores, including the ‘Ask a Chef’ program where customers can get advice and recommendations from one of Sur La Table’s resident chefs and culinary experts while shopping throughout the store.
Other offerings include the opportunity to book a one-on-one session with an in-store expert for hands-on training, as well as the change experience product demos on various items carried throughout Sur La Table, including knife collections, coffee makers and espresso machines.
“Following our recent retail expansion earlier this year, we are thrilled to continue the momentum with growth of our Sur La Table retail and e-commerce business, as well other key sectors of our brand including our private label collection, and growing roster of brand partners,” said Jordan Voloshin, CEO of Sur La Table. “We are delighted to be able to continue to give our customers the latest and greatest offerings, as well as the innovative tools needed to create in the kitchen.”
Cooking Classes
Sur La Table hosts both in-store and online hands-on cooking classes that offer expert instruction, with options for all levels in the kitchen. This year, the company Table has expanded its programs, offering more classes than ever in its stores. Specifically, the brand's popular Date Night Series will now be offered on more weeknights, along with Sunday evenings.
This summer, Sur La Table is hosting another season for its Kids & Teens Cooking Classes, one of the largest national culinary programs for kids with over 10,000 kids & teens taking 3, 4, & 5 day courses.
Last fall, Sur La Table launched a new content center, Lid & Ladle by Sur La Table, that offers guided recipe videos, tips and tricks, and how-to’s where Sur La Table’s customers can learn, create and gather ideas right at home.
Sur La Table is also expanding its selection with new brands including Calphalon and Great Jones. It also recently expanded its private label with its Cloud Ceramic Tabletop Collection, hand glazed in Europe. Looking ahead, the brand will continue to expand the Sur La Table Signature Cookware and Bakeware collections that pair high performance at a great value for consumers.
In August 2020, e-commerce investment firm CSC Generation and Marquee Brands LLC joined forces and purchased the company for nearly $89 million. The acquisition ended a tumultuous period for the retailer. The company filed for bankruptcy in July 2020, with plans to close over 50 of its 121 stores.
