Sur La Table earmarks more stores for closure

The newly acquired Sur La Table is closing more stores.

The kitchenware retailer, which was recently acquired by a joint venture between CSC Generation and Marquee Brands LLC Marquee Brands, started store closing sales in late August at an additional 17 locations. Sur La Table previously earmarked 56 stores for closure in bankruptcy as part of its plan of restructuring to optimize its retail footprint.

The nearly 50-year-old company filed for bankruptcy in July and said it would shutter more than 50 of its 121 stores. The closings will leave Sur La Table with more than 55 locations nationwide.

Liquidation sales in the closing stores   are expected to last approximately five weeks, or until all merchandise is sold. The length of the sale will vary by location. Store furniture, fixtures and equipment will also be available for purchase in certain locations.
