    New York -- Kimco Realty and NRG eVgo, part of NRG Energy, opened the Bay Area’s first electric vehicle charging station, at Westlake Shopping Center, Daly City, Calif.

  • H&M to open its largest store to date, in New York’s Herald Square

    New York -- Swedish fast-fashion giant H&M will open its largest location to date, a 63,000-sq.-ft. flagship in New York City’s bustling Herald Square. Scheduled to open in fall 2014, the four-level store will be located in Herald Center, a JEMB Realty property. The landlord’s broker is CBRE.
     

  • OfficeMax brings Business Solutions Center format to Chicago

    Naperville, Ill. -- OfficeMax Inc. announced the opening of its first Chicago-area Business Solutions Center format, with a 3,900-sq.-ft. location in the Streeterville neighborhood.

  • Boston Barricade Company supplies graphics, enclosures for Fashion Outlets of Chicago

    Vero Beach, Fla. -- Boston Barricade Company was chosen as the exclusive barricade and graphics provider for the grand opening of the Fashion Outlets of Chicago., Rosemont, Ill. The first fully enclosed mall to open in the Chicago-area in over 20 years, the 530,000-sq.-ft. center is developed, owned and operated by AWE Talisman and managed by Macerich, a national mall developer.

  • Starbucks expands Latin America footprint, to open in Columbia

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company will enter the country of Columbia, opening a store in the first half of 2014 in Bogota. It will be operated through a joint venture between the company's Latin American franchisee, Alsea, and the food company Grupo Nutresa.

    Starbucks said it has "aggressive plans" to open locations in Bogota and other major cities throughout Colombia over the next five years.

     

  • Bashas makes LED lights standard for new stores and retrofits

    Durham, N.C. -- Supermarket retailer Bashas has installed energy-efficient LED lighting from Cree in its Tempe, Ariz., location. The newly renovated store features luminaires powered by Cree TrueWhite technology, with an anticipated energy savings of 47% over the store’s previous design.
     

  • Ikea acquires Irish wind farm to power locations in Ireland

    New York -- Swedish retailer Ikea has bought a wind farm in Ireland to power its furniture stores in Dublin and Belfast, according to a report by the Belfast Telegraph.

    The Irish facility’s four turbines are expected to generate 25,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity and bring the total number of Ikea-owned windmills to more than 100 in the U.K., Germany, France, Poland, Denmark and Sweden.

  • Starboard Group taps Action Services Group for sign and lighting maintenance

    Acton, Pa. -- Action Services Group, a national lighting, sign and electrical maintenance company, has signed a service agreement with The Starboard Group to provide exterior sign and lighting maintenance services for its 75 Wendy’s restaurant units.

    The two-year maintenance program covers proactive, scheduled quarterly visits to the Wendy’s restaurant units located in Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia under a fixed monthly fee.
