Nordstrom puts ‘help wanted’ sign out in Manhattan—with a twist
Nordstrom is starting to staff up for its upcoming ventures in the Big Apple.
The department store retailer said it will hire 250 employees for its standalone men's store in Manhattan, which will open in April 2018. To promote the start of hiring, the retailer wrapped the exterior of the store with larger-than-life 'help wanted' banners featuring such job descriptions as "Desperately Seeking Sock Svengali," "Now Hiring: Sneaker Obsessives," and "People People Wanted." The recruiting campaign also includes digital and social media placements.
The men’s store is located on Broadway between West 57th and West 58th Streets. It is just steps away from Nordstrom’s planned New York City flagship, scheduled to open in 2019. The approximately 363,000-sq.-ft. store is located at the base of luxury residential building Central Park Tower, an Extell Development Company Project.
Nordstrom currently operates 366 stores in 40 states, including 122 full-line stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico; 232 Nordstrom Rack stores; two Jeffrey boutiques; two clearance stores; seven Trunk Club clubhouses; and one Nordstrom Local site. The company also operates several e-commerce sites.
