Spirit Halloween gets the star treatment with its own movie

The upcoming movie takes place in a Spirit Halloween store located in a deserted strip mall.

An iconic seasonal retail store is the setting for a new movie.

Spirit Halloween has teamed with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd for a family-friendly scary adventure movie called, “Spirit Halloween,” reported Variety. The movie, which has already finished production, stars Christopher Lloyd, of “Back to the Future” fame, and Rachel Leigh Cook, from “She’s All That. It is slated for an October release, right in time for Halloween.

According to the report, the movie takes place in a new Spirit Halloween store that appears in a deserted strip mall. On a dare, three middle-school friends who think they have outgrown trick-or-treating spend the night locked inside the store on Halloween night, only to find out it is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed Spirit’s creepy animatronic characters.

“The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves,” the report said.

Spirit Halloween is owned by Spencer Gifts. The company operated approximately 1,425 seasonal locations throughout North America in 2021. Specializing in costumes, décor and accessories for children, teens and adults, Spirit stores offer a Halloween experience that includes an exclusive line of animatronics.
