A regional grocer is providing customers with access to messaging in a very visual and conspicuous way.

ShopRite, a banner of Wakefern Food Corp., is deploying 32-inch Front End digital TV displays from Grocery TV in a select group of stores in the New York City metropolitan area. The retailer is implementing the displays in some of the most high-traffic areas of its stores, and plans to continue rolling the solution out across more locations in its network.

The Front End displays are designed to be highly visible to shoppers as they walk through aisles, pass by the front perimeter of the store and wait in line to pay. ShopRite intends to utilize the displays both as a messaging medium and also to help reduce perceived wait time at checkout. The The displays can be bought programmatically, have full video capabilities, and can target audiences on a national or regional level.

"As marketers look for ways to better communicate with household decision makers throughout the physical store, we're proud to create offerings that both improve the shopper experience and create high-impact touchpoints for retailers, brands, and agencies to better connect with their customers," said Mike Pollack, chief revenue officer at Grocery TV.

ShopRite parent puts customer at center of merchandising

In other customer-centric marketing and merchandising activity, Wakefern, which operates nearly 280 ShopRite locations, utilizes customer analytics technology from dunnhumby. The retailer leverages dunnhumby customer data models and insights to help make merchandising decisions designed to improve the shopping experience and drive engagement and growth across its store base.

Wakefern will build dunhumby technology on top of its existing merchandising and data analytic capabilities, with the goal of putting the customer at the center of all decisions.

Founded in 1946, Wakefern Food Corp. comprises nearly 50 member families who today independently own and operate close to 360 supermarkets under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Dearborn Market, Gourmet Garage and Fairway Market banners in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
