Sheetz bases growth plans on demand planning foundation

Sheetz is deploying a unified demand planning platform.

A family-owned, mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain is unifying key demand planning processes to support enterprise growth.

Sheetz is partnering with unified retail planning technology provider Relex Solutions to position itself for store growth, supply chain growth, and dynamic product marketing opportunities. The company intends to unify aspects of its demand planning processes to ensure an efficient flow of products from suppliers to stores.

The company sought a reliable solution with advanced functionality that could support demand planning across its supply chain network within a single system. Ultimately, Sheetz chose to partner with Relex due to the solution provider’s adaptable, unified supply chain management solution. The retailer seeks to leverage Relex technology to improve collaboration and visibility throughout its vertically integrated network.

“We are excited to partner with Relex to optimize our supply chain management,” said Bill Ruggles, director of procurement for Sheetz. “By partnering with Relex, our corporate demand planners have the ability to improve processes that support our distribution and inventory management strategies. Relex will ultimately help ensure Sheetz customers have what they want, when they want it, 24/7/365.”

“We at Relex are thrilled to partner with Sheetz, a recognized industry leader, as we expand our roster of convenience retail customers,” said Carlos Victoria, senior VP, sales Americas, for Relex. “We look forward to working with Sheetz to add value to their demand planning processes.”

Beginning in 2022, Sheetz plans to open approximately 50 stores in the Columbus, Ohio area in the next five years, with Skilken Gold as the exclusive real estate developer for Sheetz in Central Ohio. The new locations will offer Sheetz' made-to-order menu where customers can order customized specialty drinks or food items around the clock.

In addition, Sheetz recently expanded its omnichannel fulfillment offerings by announcing a new partnership with DoorDash to provide on-demand delivery of convenience essentials, as well as products including made-to-order meals and proprietary coffee beverages, from 560 stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

Customers can place a Sheetz order for delivery through the DoorDash website or mobile app. In late January 2022, Sheetz customers will also be able to order from the Sheetz website and mobile app and have their items delivered same-day via the DoorDash Drive white-label fulfillment platform.

“This new partnership with DoorDash allows Sheetz to significantly expand delivery options and continue to deliver on our mission to give customers what they want, when they want it, how they want it,” said Ryan Sheetz, VP, marketing & brand, Sheetz. “Customers can still order from our extensive made-to-order menu and select custom options with the touch of a finger, and now, they can do it from the comfort of their home.”

Based in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. operates over 630 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
