Saks Global reveals more Saks, Neiman store closings — here are the locations
Saks Global continues its planned "optimization" across its store portfolio.
The luxury retail company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January, announced a new round of store closings that include 12 Saks Fifth Avenue locations and 3 Neiman Marcus stores (all locations listed at end of article). The stores are expected to remain open through May.
The shutterings follow an initial round of closures announced by Saks Global in February that included eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores and one Neiman Marcus store. With this newest round, 13 Saks stores and 32 Neiman Marcus stores will remain open, as well as Bergdorf Goodman's two stores in Manhattan.
In a release, Geoffroy van Raemdonck, who rook the reins as CEO of Saks Global in January, said "this strategic optimization is part of our ongoing transformation and rooted in our long-term view of our business." (As previously announced, the company is also closing the majority of its off-price Saks Off 5th stores.)
"Our go-forward store portfolio will comprise the best performing and most desirable locations in markets with the highest concentration of luxury customers, enabling us to deepen loyalty and drive sustainable growth," he said. "With a refined footprint, we are creating a stronger platform for our brand partners and an even more compelling customer experience as we focus on investing in the luxury experience, sharpening the differentiation of our coveted banners and fully leveraging our prime owned and other retail locations."
The company did not shut the door on future closings. In a press release, it said that it has "largely completed the optimization of its footprint. but continues to engage with landlords as it works to make final decisions on its go-forward network of stores."
In addition, as of Feb. 19, Horchow.com has transitioned to NeimanMarcus.com. Customers can continue to shop the full assortment of brands and product categories previously available on Horchow.com now in Neiman Marcus' home category.
Saks Global plans to continue to differentiate its Saks and Neiman banners through "distinct assortments and experiences."
"The company will honor the heritage of each brand while positioning itself to lead multiple segments of the luxury market over the long-term," the retailer said,
With the exception of the closing locations, the remaining stores and e-commerce experiences across Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman are operating as usual.
