Regional grocer upgrades apps, loyalty program

The Save Mart Companies is adding functionality to its consumer apps and loyalty programs.

The Save Mart Companies is unveiling enhanced Save Mart and Lucky California mobile apps, along with new perks for its loyalty program.

The new apps are designed to be intuitive, easy to use, and provide shoppers with special offers to increase savings. Based on feedback from Save Mart customers and developed in partnership with retail digital platform Swiftly, the new apps offer shoppers seamless ordering through their mobile devices.

Save Mart also plans to provide frequent app updates showcasing new functionalities, such as click and collect, subscription delivery to doorstep, and contactless checkout, all designed to make omnichannel shopping easier for customers.

The Save Mart Companies is upgrading its app functionality as part of a broader rollout of the Swiftly platform across its banners, connecting digital and in-store shopping experiences, and providing a seamless customer experience throughout the buying journey. In addition, Save Mart will obtain closed-loop omnichannel ad reporting with measurable, SKU-level transactions and ad clicks to provide accurate, actionable insights.

Save Mart will leverage Swiftly to offer a personalized omnichannel customer experience including in-store, click & collect, delivery, and “endless aisle” shopping that connects in-store shoppers with broader inventory from other stores and warehouses. And as part of the offering, Save Mart will also provide a new way for CPG brands to engage with their customers in a personalized and ultra-targeted digital experience.

The retailer’s CPG brand partners will be able to leverage dynamic ad placements, targeted content, sponsored searches, and product recommendations. Backed by insight and analytics, brands will have the ability to instantly connect with shoppers, potentially affecting purchase decisions in real time.

In addition to updating consumer apps, the company is also enhancing the Save Mart and Lucky California rewards loyalty programs to offer new benefits that include personalized deals, extra rewards, and free promotional items. Members earn points on nearly every dollar spent, and points can be redeemed on groceries. Shoppers can sign up for the rewards program through the mobile app, online, or in-store.

The updated Save Mart and Lucky California apps are available to download at the Apple App and Google Play stores. FoodMaxx, The Save Mart Companies value format banner, is scheduled to launch a new app in November 2021.

“Our new user-friendly apps provide an integrated loyalty and e-commerce experience that is focused on delivering even more savings for our shoppers,” said Barbara Walker, chief marketing officer, The Save Mart Companies. “This debut is just the beginning.”

Based in Modesto, Calif., The Save Mart Companies operates 202 stores under the banners of Save Mart, Lucky California, and FoodMaxx throughout California and Northern Nevada. In addition to its retail operation, the company also operates Smart Refrigerated Transport and is a partner in Super Store Industries (SSI), which owns and operates a distribution center in Lathrop, Calif. and the Sunnyside Farms dairy processing plant in Turlock, Calif.
