  • Zip Fitness to open four Chicagoland locations

    Chicago -- Transwestern’s Chicago Retail Advisory Services said it has represented Zip Fitness in four transactions across the Chicagoland area.

  • Roll N Go to open third Manhattan location

    New York City -- Winick Realty Group said Tuesday that fast-food operator Roll N Go has leased its third location at 386 Canal Street, on the corner of West Broadway.

    The 300-sq.-ft. space features 20 ft. of frontage on Canal St. and will be used for both take-out and counter seating.
     

  • Filene’s to close four Massachusetts stores

    Boston -- Filene’s Basement will close four Massachusetts stores around Christmas time this year, according to a Tuesday report by the Boston Globe.

    The struggling discounter will close stores in Braintree, Peabody, Saugus and Watertown, Mass., leaving three stores in the state – in Back Bay, Newton and Norwood – and 22 stores in all.

    Syms Corp. bought Filene’s Basement out of bankruptcy in June 2009.
     

  • Carlo Pazolini to debut in Manhattan

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said Wednesday that it has secured a lease for luxury footwear brand Carlo Pazolini at 543 Broadway, in the SoHo district of Manhattan.

    The Italian shoe designer will open the 7,950-sq.-ft. this holiday season. It will be Carlo Pazolini’s first U.S. store.

    Designed by architect Giorgio Borruso, the Italian shoe shop will occupy 4,250 sq. ft. of ground-floor space and 3,700 sq. ft. in the basement. 

  • 7-Eleven to open 200 stores in Ontario over four years

    Toronto -- A Tuesday report by the Financial Times said that c-store operator 7-Eleven will open as many as 200 new corporate stores in Ontario, between 2012 and 2016, with a major focus on the Greater Toronto area.

    The announcement is slated to take place at this week’s International Council of Shopper Centers’ conference in Toronto.

    The planned expansion is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and would boost the operator’s Canadian store count by nearly 50%. 7-Eleven currently operates 467 locations in Canada.

  • Fifteen J.C. Penney outlet stores acquired by SB Capital

    Columbus, Ohio -- SB Capital Group, a Schottenstein affiliate, said Monday it has acquired 15 J.C. Penney Outlet Stores from J. C. Penney Co., and will rebrand the units as JC’s 5 Star Outlet.

    According to SB Capital, the stores will operate for up to a 21-month transitional period as J.C. Penney Outlet Stores, as the stores are converted to JC's 5 Star Outlet. J.C. Penney will continue to supply the stores with overstocks and end-of-season merchandise, and all existing store staffs and management have been retained.

  • City Furniture launches expansion program

    Miami – City Furniture has launched a $17.5 million expansion program to construct or renovate five stores from Miami to West Palm Beach, beginning with the major renovation of its Dadeland store in Pinecrest. The program calls for three store openings during 2012.

  • Report: Lord & Taylor expanding

    New York City -- Lord & Taylor plans to open three new department stores in the coming year, according to The New York Post.

    Two locations are slated to open in March -- an 80,000-sq-ft. store at a lifestyle center in Yonkers, N.Y., and a 120,000-sq.-ft. store in a mall in Rockingham, N.H.

    In fall 2012, Lord & Taylor will open an 80,000-sq.-ft. location in Boca Raton, Fla., bringing the total number of full-priced Lord & Taylor stores to 50.
