  • Saks to close Denver store

    New York City -- Saks on Wednesday announced it plans to close its Saks Fifth Avenue store located in the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, Colo., on March 19. With the closing, the company will have closed seven Saks Fifth Avenue stores since July 2010.

  • Grubb & Ellis names project manager

    Chicago -- Grubb & Ellis Co. announced that Thomas M. Erdelac, AIA, a 24-year commercial real estate veteran, has joined the company as senior project manager.

    Erdelac was most recently a principal with VOA Associates.

  • La Colombe Torrefaction signs Center City lease

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Fameco Real Estate, L.P. said that coffee retailer La Colombe Torrefaction has signed a lease for 1,230 sq. ft. at The Residences at the Ritz Carlton, in Philadelphia.

    The new location is slated to open April 2011 and will complement La Columbe’s other location on Rittenhouse Square, also in Philadelphia.

  • Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries announces 40+-unit development deal

    Columbia, Md. -- Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries said Tuesday it has signed a master franchise agreement with multi-unit restaurant developer Manu Patel to develop 40+ Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries restaurants in Delaware, New Jersey, and the Philadelphia metro area.

  • DDG awarded planning and design architecture for China’s largest mall

    Baltimore -- Planning, architecture, graphics and design firm Development Design Group said Monday it has been awarded the position of planner and design architect for the retail centerpiece of the landmark Tianjin City Culture Center Development, soon to become the largest mall in China.

  • Tommy Bahama to make Manhattan debut

    New York City -- Tommy Bahama will open its first store in New York City, on Fifth Avenue at 45th Street, according to The Wall Street Journal. The 8,500-sq.-ft. store is expected to open by the end of 2011.

    The 89-store Tommy Bahama chain is a subsidiary of Oxford Industries, which recently acquired the Lilly Pulitzer brand.

  • Daffy’s starts expansion push

    New York City -- Off-price retailer Daffy’s is launching an expansion push, including opening a store in Manhattan’s Times Square in the former home of the New York Times, Crain’s New York Business reported.

    The 28,000-sq.-ft. Times Square store, to be located on West 44th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, is slated to open fall 2011. The store will have a ground-floor entrance, but the bulk of the space will be on the basement level.
