Starbucks brews coming to South Africa

7/14/2015

New York -- Starbucks Corp. is expanding its already extensive global footprint.

The chain announced it will open its first stores in South Africa next year in a partnership deal with South African management group Taste Holdings. The initial store is scheduled to open in Johannesburg during the first half of 2016.

We’re looking forward to bringing the entire Starbucks experience to South Africa for the first time. That includes 100% ethically sourced Arabica coffee, Starbucks full menu offering and of course beautiful coffee houses,” said Carlo Gonzaga, CEO of Taste.

Under the agreement, Taste still own the exclusive rights to develop Starbucks retail outlets in South Africa as well as owning and operating the stores directly.

Starbucks currently operates in 65 countries.
