General Growth Properties has unveiled Adventure to Santa, a DreamWorks DreamPlace first-of-its-kind holiday experience that starts with Shrek, ends with Santa and seamlessly blends storytelling with cutting-edge technology. The 2,000-sq.-ft., interactive cottage debuts at five GGP locations across the country. “Some of our fondest holiday memories include meeting Santa to share our wish lists,” said Scott Morey, executive VP, GGP. “Our partners at DreamWorks Animation bring an entirely new kind of magic to that experience. Their expertise, coupled with GGP’s commitment to continue to elevate the mall shopping experience, truly makes this a must-see attraction at our malls.”
Adventure to Santa takes families on a 15-minute journey to the North Pole with Shrek and friends. Upon arrival, guests will have their specially provided passports processed at the North Pole Customs Shop by one of Santa’s elves. They’ll then be personally guided through the cottage, enjoying interactive activities such as designing their own sleigh and taking a motion-based, virtual sleigh ride.
Once families complete the activities in each room, Adventure to Santa culminates in a special moment where children and their families enjoy a private visit with Santa. Glendale Galleria (Los Angeles) was the first GGP mall to open the experience on November 6. The mall welcomed Khloe Kardashian, star of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” as the first celebrity guest to tour the house during a private event to celebrate the opening.
The other four GGP malls hosting the holiday experience are: Fashion Show, Las Vegas; North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia; Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, Illinois; and The Parks at Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
Forest City Enterprises is unveiling the experience at its Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. and at Westchester’s Ridge Hill in Yonkers, N.Y., and
PREIT will host the event at its Cherry Hill Mall in Cherry Hill, N.J. For reservations to the GGP Adventure to Santa events, click here.
