Primark marks 10 years in U.S. with new leases, planned entry in new state
Primark is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of entering the United States by continuing to grow its footprint.
The global value fashion retailer, which opened its first U.S. store in Boston in 2015, said it is dedicated to U.S. growth. It has 33 stores across 13 U.S. states, with recent openings including El Paso, Texas; Memphis, Tenn.; and Jersey City, N.J.
Primark is known for its budget prices, with denim starting at $10 and tee shirts at $4. It also sells licensed products, with collections such as Netflix, Disney and Marvel, and sports offerings including NFL and NBA apparel.
The retailer announced it has signed four new leases, including its entry into Minnesota, with a store at Mall of America in Bloomington. The other new leases are for locations at:
- Brandon Exchange, Brandon, Fla.;
- Vineland Premium Outlets, Orlando, Fla.; and
- Sugarloaf Mills, Lawrenceville, Ga.
Primark is on track to open its first-ever Manhattan location in 2026 in the Herald Square neighborhood. The 54,000-sq.-ft. flagship will be located across the street from Penn Station. In total, the retailer currently has 18 signed leases.
“Primark came to the United States a decade ago very deliberate in our approach, testing and learning to ensure that as we continued to expand our footprint in-market, we were getting it just right for US shoppers," said Kevin Tulip, president of Primark U.S.. "To say we're thrilled with the success we've seen in the US to-date is an understatement. U.S. shoppers have welcomed Primark with arms wide open, and continue to be wowed by the value, quality and style we offer.
In addition to store openings, Primark has invested in its U.S. team with key hires and the opening of a new office in Downtown Boston this year. Primark is consistently selected as an employer of choice in the US. Most recently Primark was honored in the number two spot on the National Retail Federation's "2025 Hot Retailers" list compiled by Kantar – an annual look at the fastest-growing retailers in the United States.
Founded in Ireland in 1969 under the Penneys brand, Primark has 450 stores across 17 countries in Europe and the U.S. In addition to clothing for men, women and children, stores sell beauty, homeware and accessories.
