Primark continues U.S. growth, enters new state
Fashion and home goods retailer Primark is entering a new market in the Midwest.
The retailer plans to open its first store in Michigan later this year at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, a northern suburb of Detroit. The 36,600-sq.-ft. store will open on Sept. 12 with a grand opening event featuring a live DJ, giveaways and local treats.
The entrance into Michigan will follow Primark's opening at the Florida Mall in Orlando on Aug. 29. Primark is in the midst of an ongoing expansion within the United States, and the new openings will bring Primark to 27 U.S. stores across 11 states. The retailer had previously announced a goal to open 60 U.S. stores by 2026.
Primark has signed leases to open stores in Virginia, Texas and Maryland. In addition, Primark recently opened its second U.S. distribution center in Jacksonville, Fla., which helps serve Primark's U.S. expansion with a focus on Southern states.

Primark stores feature women's, men's and kids fashions and essentials as well as beauty, homeware and accessories. With denim starting at $10 and t-shirts at $4, Primark offers an extensive collection of licensed affordable products, including fan-favorite collections such as Disney and sports offerings, including NBA Detroit Pistons and NFL Detroit Lions collections.
Founded in Ireland in 1969 under the Penneys brand and now owned by Associated British Foods, Primark has more than 440 stores globally.
