‘Pokemon Day’ returns to eBay – for three days
eBay is extending its celebration of all things Pokemon to a 72-hour event.
The e-commerce giant is launching the "Evolving Shop," a curated shopping experience featuring Pokemon-themed rare trading cards and merchandise. Prices start at nine cents—a nod to the nine forms of the popular “Eevee” Pokemon character—in a three-day, 24-hour auction series celebrating "Pokemon Day," which marks the Feb. 27, 1996 debut of the original version of what would become the global trading card game Pokemon in Japan.
New drops will appear daily at 6 a.m. PT from Tuesday, Feb. 25 to Thursday, Feb. 27. The auction will conclude at 6 a.m. PT on Friday, Feb. 28. This promotion follows a 24-hour "Pokemon Day" sales event eBay hosted in 2024.

"Pokémon has been a cornerstone of collecting on eBay for decades, and in 2024, we saw nearly 14,000 searches for ‘Pokémon’ every hour," said Adam Ireland, VP and GM of global collectibles at eBay. "With the Evolving Shop, we’re giving fans something truly special—an exclusive chance to chase rare Eeveelution cards and collectibles in a way that mirrors the excitement of the game itself. It’s a fun, dynamic way to celebrate Pokémon Day, and we can’t wait to see collectors jump in."
eBay hosting live Pokémon shopping events
In addition to rare trading card auctions, eBay is hosting live Pokémon-themed events through Sunday, March 2, 2025 on eBay Live, eBay’s interactive livestream shopping platform accessible via its app and on desktop.
Customers can shop Pokémon items in real time with fellow shoppers and view live appearances from top Pokémon collectors.
eBay zeroes in on collectibles
Collectibles represent an increasingly important product category for eBay. In May 2024, eBay completed a series of previously announced transactions with Collectors, parent company of PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), a trading card authentication and grading company it had been strategically partnering with for about two years.
Under the transactions, eBay sold the eBay collectibles storage vault to PSA and purchased Goldin, a U.S.-based auction house for high-value trading cards and collectibles, from Collectors, and also entered a commercial agreement that will create a new, combined trading card vault product offering.
The partnership will support streamlined buying, grading, storing and selling for collectors of all types, bringing together eBay's marketplace platform with PSA's expert grading services and vault product.
eBay also offers a series of exclusive Funko products as part of a collaboration with the pop culture brand, and ran a limited-time promotion featuring collectible “Star Wars” merchandise and memorabilia in May 2024.
Founded in 1995 in San Jose, Calif., eBay enabled more than $73 billion of gross merchandise volume in 2023.
