PayPal offers digital buy now, pay later service in Canada
Canadian consumers have a new online flex payment option.
PayPal is launching its PayPal Pay in 4 interest-free, no-fee, buy now, pay later (BNPL) solution for Canadian e-commerce shoppers. Timed for the holiday shopping season, PayPay Pay in 4 is now available across millions of online retailers and brands in Canada, including Knix, Samsonite, Silk & Snow, The Home Depot Canada and Ticketmaster.
The flex payment option lets Canadian shoppers split eligible online purchases from $30 to $1,500 into four equal, interest-free payments over six weeks. Automatic payments provide options to fund the payment including debit, credit, or bank account. If consumers want to pay early, they can do so using the PayPal app or online.
PayPal debuted its Pay in 4 BNPL offering in the U.S. in 2020. The company followed up in 2022 with the introduction of PayPal Pay Monthly, issued by WebBank. Pay Monthly enables customers to make large purchases between $199-$10,000 and break the total cost into monthly payments over a six–to-24-month period, with the first payment due one month after purchase.
Eligible PayPal Pay in 4 purchases are covered by PayPal’s purchase protection program.
"PayPal has served Canadians for over 15 years and is one of the most trusted brands across the country," said Michelle Gill, GM, small business and financial services, PayPal. "To meet demand for transparent and trusted payment options, PayPal’s Pay in 4 helps Canadians manage cash flow without late fees or hidden costs. Businesses also benefit as those who offer PayPal BNPL offerings experience increased conversion and higher sales—both critical during peak holiday season."
During the 2025 holiday season, PayPal is partnering with Canadian mall operator Cadillac Fairview to accept PayPal Pay in 4 with online purchases at Cadillac Fairview malls. Shoppers can also participate holiday experiences at Cadillac Fairview malls in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver throughout the holiday season, including a ‘Pay in 4, Play in 4’ in-person pop-up and online game for eligible customers offering shoppers the chance to win up to $1,000 in prizes.
