Nordstrom plans holiday gift shops — and Santa visits to every store
Nordstrom is kicking off the holiday season with festive in-store shops, special events and an expanded gift catalog.
The department store retailer's holiday plans include an expanded, nearly 100-page catalog with more than 800 “must-have” gifts that customers can find at their nearest Nordstrom store. The catalog includes curated gift guides on every page, with more than 25 pages of toys and gifts for kids. Nordstrom will offer more than 110,000 gifting options on its e-commerce site, where shoppers can also get personalized recommendations from the retailers’s new AI “Gift Expert in Training” feature.
All Nordstrom stores will feature holiday gift shops showcasing 1,000 items across an assortment of gifting categories, from beauty sets to accessories to toys. Most (90%) of the items are priced under $100, with 60% under $50.
In addition, Nordstrom will offer an array of holiday experiences, with more than 1,500 events planned across its stores nationwide. And for the first time ever, Santa will make special appearances at every Nordstrom store. Customers can capture the experience with holiday photos through a special partnership with Shutterfly, with free Santa photos to Nordstrom cardholders.
Members of the company’s loyalty club (Nordy Club) will have access to exclusive shopping parties and special lounge access in select stores. In a new perk this year, members are invited to select a premium gift or charitable donation of their choice “as a token of appreciation for their loyalty.”
Flagships
In November, flagship stores in New York City and downtown Seattle will host special interactive experiences, inviting customers to embark on a journey of the senses through the "Oh, What Fun House," a quirky and experiential play on the retailer's season's campaign.
At its hometown flagship in downtown Seattle, Nordstrom will introduce a reimagined version of its Santa Lane experience, inviting customers through the store in an immersive journey to visit Santa in a festive new setting.
The New York City flagship will boast an expanded version of the chain’s holiday gift shop. The two-story concept will feature an expansive curation of gifts and unique finds, host special activations and offer elevated services including the Gift Box Bar, where customers can create a custom gift box featuring their choice of ribbon and a curated selection of charms, along with a personalization station, an evergreen photo booth, and tailored gifting support from in-store experts.
