Nordstrom holiday plans include enhanced app; FAO Schwarz, David Bowie shops

Nordstrom

Nordstrom is celebrating the holidays with special in-store shops and an enhanced mobile app.

Coinciding with the holiday season, the department retailer is celebrating David Bowie's influence on music and fashion with an exclusive partnership in honor of his 80th birthday year. “Bowie80” will come to life through immersive shops at Nordstrom's Chicago, New York City and Seattle flagship locations and on its website. It will feature exclusive and limited-edition collections from AllSaints, Barbour, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith, Susan Alexandra, Undercover Jun Takahashi and more.

The iconic songs of Bowie will also play a starring role in Nordstrom's Holiday campaign this year. Set to Bowie's iconic hit "Let's Dance," this season's streaming TV campaign will transport customers to their fondest holiday memories, bringing back the living room stage as the backdrop for a holiday gathering full of music, dance and gift giving.

FAO Schwarz

Nordstrom entered into a partnership with FAO Schwarz, which has opened an in-store shop at Nordstrom’s New York flagship. The legendary toy company has opened a smaller concept, dubbed "The Jewel Box," in eight Nordstrom stores across the country (locations at end of article.)

The department store retailer will also feature holiday gift shops, with gifts at every price point. The selection includes ornaments and stocking stuffers to exclusive beauty sets, standout accessories, pantry items, and tech gear, plus cozy favorites like cashmere, slippers and pajamas.

Enhanced App

In time for the holidays, Nordstrom is launching new app features designed to make shopping in store and online easier and more personal. A new “In Store” mode makes shopping more seamless, with an interactive map that helps customers find what they're looking for, from departments to holiday gift shops. A single scan speeds up order pickup, checkout and returns with a one-tap payment using a Nordstrom card.

In addition, customers can start shopping from home with the new AI-powered “Request a Look” feature, answering a few quick prompts to instantly receive personalized recommendations. For one-on-one help, they can connect with a stylist through the app to review and refine their looks for a complete digital styling experience.

The app's new “Gift Edit” feature brings the retailer’s holiday catalog to life with expert commentary behind top gifts. Improved gift filters, including delivery speed, help ensure gifts arrive on time for the holidays. Nordy Club members get free one-to-two-day shipping, and in-store pickup is faster than ever with a four-hour pickup window.

The company added that, for last-minute gifting and glam needs, it will offer same day beauty delivery in more than 15 markets including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami and more, starting this month.

Nordstrom will offer festive experiences during the season, including Holiday Breakfasts with appearances from Santa, who is also returning to all Nordstrom stores this year.
