  • Survey: Free shipping more important to consumers than fast shipping

    Stamford, Conn. -- Among Americans who purchased a product that required shipping this year, 80% consider shipping options, including free shipping, to be an important factor in their overall shopping experience, according to a recent survey commissioned by Pitney Bowes Inc. The survey found free shipping is by far more important to Americans surveyed over fast shipping (77% versus 19%).  

  • Working at Walmart a rewarding proposition this weekend

    Free food, double pay and generous merchandise discounts are available to the more than one million Walmart employees called upon to work Thanksgiving weekend.

    Walmart on Wednesday highlighted some of the benefits workers at its store will receive this weekend, including a 25% discount off an entire purchase, a Thanksgiving meal throughout Black Friday shifts and double pay for employees willing to endure the madness of Black Friday events scheduled for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

  • GNC authorizes share repurchase; increases term loan

    Pittsburgh – The board of directors of GNC Holdings has authorized a multi-year program to repurchase up to an aggregate $500 million of the company's Class A common stock. The authorization is effective immediately.  The GNC may finance any repurchases with cash, potential financing transactions, or a combination of the foregoing.  

  • Charmin delivers relief to tailgaters in Dallas

    Charmin toilet paper delivered relief to tailgaters in Dallas Thanksgiving Day, when the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Oakland Raiders. As part of the Charmin Relief Project, the brand took state-of-the-art restrooms to the stadium.

    The restrooms, which featured bathroom attendants, were touted as “an upscale bathroom experience.”

  • Mastercard partners with Orgone for European Masterpass rollout

    Purchase, N.Y. -- MasterCard  and global online payment provider Ogone are partnering on the integration and deployment of MasterPass. This collaboration which covers Belgium, The Netherlands, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Spain in a first phase and the remaining countries Ogone operates in later on.

  • Canadian retailer Jean Coutu Group debuts online shopping via window displays

    Longueuil, Quebec -- Canadian drug store operator The Jean Coutu Group is looking to boost holiday sales and make shopping more convenient this holiday season with the launch of an “e-store” window inside the Longueuil Metro Station.

    Located in the A Wing of the Longueuil Metro Station, a key public transit hub, the e-store window allows consumers to make holiday purchases online on the spot using their smartphones. Purchased items can be delivered to the address of their choosing before Dec. 24.

  • Amazon unveils online fine art store ahead of Cyber Monday

    Ethos Contemporary Art is joining Amazon Art, a new online fine art sales channel for the world’s largest e-retailer. Ethos will be offering original fine art from artists such as Pierre Henri Matisse, Georgeana Ireland, Lisa Palombo and Dick Marconi ahead of Cyber Monday.
