  • Loblaw selects SAP omnichannel solution

    Toronto – Loblaw Companies Ltd. has selected the SAP Store Device Control by GK software solution marketed by SAP. This product offers the infrastructure to control stores in an omnichannel commerce architecture.

    GK Software US Inc. will handle the implementation of the software in this project.
     

     

  • Hormel Foods makes leadership changes

    As a result of its definitive agreement to acquire CytoSport Holdings, maker of Muscle Milk products, Hormel Foods has promoted three of its executives to leadership roles with CytoSport, based in Benicia, California.

  • Port strike still looms

    Both sides of a West Coast labor dispute are entering extra time as the contract between the Pacific Maritime Association and the International Long Shore and Warehouse Union officially expired June 30.

    As expected, both sides are negotiating in an effort to avoid the economic damage from a costly strike on the docks that, according to a recent study, could cost as much as $2.5 billion per day. 

  • Kate Upton heads to Times Square Express for denim campaign

    Express brand ambassador Kate Upton will debut her first advertising campaign for the retailer. The launch of the fall 2014 denim campaign with Upton makes her the first celebrity spokesperson to be featured in the brand's advertising in more than a decade.

    Upton will celebrate the launch with an exclusive RSVP-only "A Date with Denim and Kate Upton" event at the recently opened Express Times Square store in New York Tuesday, July 8.

  • Management shake-up at Signet Jewelers; Zale CEO Killion resigns

    Hamilton, Bermuda -- Signet Jewelers Ltd. on Tuesday announced that Theo Killion, CEO and president of its newly acquired Zale division, has resigned, effective July 31.

    Killion had been tapped to lead Zale as a separate division within the company, Signet said when the deal closed in late May. George Murray, Signet's current chief integration management officer, has been promoted to president of the Zale division and will succeed Killion upon his departure.

  • ConAgra completes plant expansion

    ConAgra Foods has completed expansion of its Lamb Weston frozen potato facility in Boardman, Oregon. The $200 million investment announced in 2012 adds a new processing line to the plant, increasing capacity for making french fries and other frozen potato products, and also adds more than 100 jobs to the local economy.

    During a special grand opening ceremony held last week, Lamb Weston employees were joined by representatives from Columbia River Enterprise Zone, Port of Morrow, city of Boardman, Morrow County and state of Oregon.

  • Ben & Jerry’s launches omnichannel food truck promo in NYC, Portland

    Burlington, Vt. - Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Truck is launching a month-long tour in New York City July 1-28 and in Portland, Oregon, July 1-29, giving away free ice cream scoops in an omnichannel promotion. Customers can follow the trucks on Twitter to see where they are located and also send tweets to win direct delivery of free ice cream.

  • Newegg now accepting Bitcoin payments

    Online consumer electronics retailer Newegg has begun offering its 25 million registered users the ability to pay for 10.5 million products using the bitcoin digital currency.

    The new payment capability is being offered through a relationship with BitPay, a payment service provider specializing in the bitcoin digital currency.
