Zara brings European flare to more customers with U.S. site

NEW YORK — Spanish retailer Zara is giving consumers greater access to its European style with the launch of its first U.S. e-commerce site.



Beginning Sept. 7, U.S. customers can visit www.zara.com to shop for women's, men's and children's clothing that are also available in-store. In addition, Zara is also offering free standard delivery to all 50 states.Customers who prefer to pick up their orders in store can do so free of charge within three to five days. Express delivery is available for a flat rate of $9.95.


Zara said it has made its website consumer friendly with such features as an enhanced garment search function, easy-to-use shopping basket and store search tool. The site also featuresphotos, lookbooks, videos and more so that shoppers can get an overall impression of the current range; moreover, this content can be shared on the various social networks. Users can also sign up for a newsletter to keep them abreast of the latest fashions and trends, the company reported.


To mark the launch of its e-commerce platform in the United States, Zara has commissioned photographs of each of the nation's states. Noah Kalina, Peter Baker and Stephen Tamiesie are just some of the 24 photographers participating in the 'Dear America' campaign, comprising 50 photos which can be viewed on Zara's US website beginning tomorrow, Sept. 7.


Zara is part of Inditex Group, which operates 5,150 stores under eight fashion concepts: Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterque. The company operates stores in 30 U.S. cities including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago and Houston, where it has flagship stores.
