Walmart promotes Christmas food, CE savings

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart's latest holiday promotion involves home entertainment and popular Christmas dinner staples.

Starting Dec. 12, Walmart said it will offer disounts on such items as LCD TVs, Blu-Ray disc players and Blu-Ray movies. In addition, the retailer announced that customers can purchase a Christmas dinner for eight for less than $30. The dinner includes a 10-pound select hickory smoked, spiral cut half ham, three 8-ounce cans Del Monte green beans, one 10-pound bag of Russet potatoes, one 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls and one 10-inch pumpkin pie.

Walmart used a similar marketing tactic for the Thanksgiving holiday, when it promoted discounts on electronics and food staples, such as $5 turkeys.
