Vizio kicks off BTS college contest

7/30/2014

Electronics company Vizio has kicked off a back-to-school contest for college students that will furnish a winner with electronics and $2,000 toward tuition and books.

The company is encouraging students to upload videos of themselves explaining a story of determination to Vizio’s website through Aug. 19.

"VIZIO knows college isn't easy, and there are many students across the country who have endured hardships, but have continued to persevere to further their education,” Vizio VP, product marketing, Lily Knowles said. "We're excited to reward a deserving student with much-needed funds to help out with their books and tuition, plus a VIZIO TV and Sound Stand to upgrade their dorm room."

The grand-prize winner receives a 40-in. Vizio TV, a 21-in. sound stand, and $1,000 each for tuition and books. The winner will also receive a year’s subscription to streaming music company Spotify’s premium service (worth $119.88). The winner will also help Vizio present $2,000 worth of school supplies, a sound stand and a TV to the Boys and Girls Club in the winner’s town.

Eleven contestants will be chosen as runners-up and will receive $100 for school supplies and a six-month subscription to Spotify Premium. Submissions are open now at vizio.com/student.
