Twizzlers flies with the Man of Steel

5/7/2013

HERSHEY, Pa. — Twizzlers candy is getting in on the Man of Steel hype and teaming up with Warner Bros. to offer fans a chance to remake themselves as the invincible one and win prizes.

Between now and July 6, participants can visit www.Facebook.com/Twizzlers to create and star in a personalized Man of Steel- inspired video. The custom video application called Create the Invincible You takes Facebook fans through a two-minute transformation that they can then share on social media sites.

In addition to creating the customized video, participants will also have the chance to win one of 10 weekly prizes as well as the grand prize: the Ultimate Man of Steel Getaway.

"We're excited to offer fans the opportunity to discover their inner superheroes with a Man of Steel experience this summer," said Anna Lingeris, spokesperson for the Twizzlers brand

Weekly prizes include a year's supply of movie passes, T-shirts and Twizzlers candy. The grand prize is an all-expenses paid trip for two to the country's largest Metropolises — Los Angeles, New York and Chicago — and $3,000 in spending money.

The Man of Steel is also starring in a national television commercial for Twizzlers candy, and featured on specially marked packages of 16-ounce Twizzlers candy, available while supplies last at mass, grocery and drugstores nationwide.

The Man of Steel is certainly making the publicity rounds. Just a few weeks ago, Walmart announced it was teaming up with Warner Bros. to offer tickets for the exclusive screening of "Man of Steel." Tickets go on sale in more than 3,700 Walmart stores starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 18. The advance screening will take place in selected local theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

"Man of Steel" stars Henry Cavill in the roles of Clark Kent and Superman, under the direction of Zack Snyder. The film also stars Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe.

The film is produced by Charles Roven, Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment. “Man of Steel” opens nationwide Friday, June 14, in 2-D and 3-D in select theaters and IMAX. It is rated PG-13.
