'Twilight' star helps Staples 'Do Something'
NEW YORK and FRAMINGHAM, Mass. Staples announced that it is teaming up with DoSomething.org and actress and screenwriter, Nikki Reed, for the 3rd Annual National Staples/Do Something 101 School Supply Drive (www.dosomething101.org).
Reed, star of the Twilight films, will help promote the program, which encourages teens to collect school supplies and drop them off at their local Staples store from July 4 through Sept. 18. In addition, Staples customers will be able to get involved by donating $1 at any Staples store, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting local students in need. Each Staples store will be matched to a local educational not-for-profit organization serving local youth.
"Do Something 101 has done an amazing job in its first two years, and I'm dedicated to making the 2010 campaign the best yet," said Reed. "Every donated pencil, notebook and other supplies add up to make a big difference in improving education."
To further demonstrate support for DoSomething.org, new for 2010, Staples announced it is launching a line of DoSomething.org-inspired products that students can use to keep organized and learn about important issues impacting their communities. These products will be available at Staples retail stores by July 4 and will direct students to www.dosomething101.org/staples, a dedicated microsite with additional information and suggestions to help students take action in their communities.
