Turkeys go digital this Thanksgiving

8/12/2014

The smart home phenomenon is coming to dinner this Thanksgiving and Jennie-O and smart thermometer manufacturer iDevices are bringing the technology.

Leading turkey brand Jennie-O and iDevices have created a promotion designed to increase consumption of turkey and bring greater precision to the art of properly cooking a turkey. The companies this month began offering a $10 off coupon on packages of Jennie-O brand turkey products good toward the purchase of an iDevices’ smart thermometer. The smart device, available at leading retailers, allows cooks to remotely monitor the temperature of meat and eliminate the need to hover over the oven or grill while perfectly cooking turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. When that temperature is reached, users can configure settings in the app to send an alert up to 150 feet away.

“Our latest partnership with iDevices helps us to provide busy cooks the information they need to prepare great-tasting meals for their families and add a new level of convenience to their cooking routine,” said Jen Ehresmann, director of marketing at Jennie-O, a division of Hormel Foods. “An easy-to-use meat thermometer is a simple, hassle-free tool that can help ensure turkey is fully cooked to a delicious 165 degrees each and every time.”
