Toys'R'Us toy book has old classics, new features

10/28/2009

WAYNE, N.J.

Toys"R"Us has released its annual Biggest Big Book, which, the company claims, boasts up to $5,500 in savings on the hottest toys.

"Children nationwide are already checking their mailboxes in anticipation of being the first on their block to flip through the Toys"R"Us Biggest Big Book," said Greg Ahearn, SVP marketing and e-commerce for Toys"R"Us, U.S. "As children thoughtfully write their holiday wish lists using the Biggest Big Book as their guide, we know parents will appreciate the incredible savings, including dozens of free gifts-with-purchase and hundreds of fantastic deals."

The catalog enables children to easily mark off toys for their "wish list," according to Toys"R"Us. Parents can that list and use the retailers new, in-store Toys"R"Us Wish List service to create a tailored list for their children, based on age, interest and abilities. In addition, parents and kids can take the Biggest Big Book to a Toys"R"Us store to scan their holiday selections into a Wish List that can be shared with family, friends or even Santa over email or at in-store registry kiosks. Wish Lists can also be created, updated and maintained online at Toysrus.com/WishList .

Capitalizing on its ownership of the legendary FAO Schwarz, for the first time ever, Toys"R"Us will feature select toys from this retailer in its Biggest Big Book, including wooden toys, stuffed animals and a jack-in-the-box.

To give members of the official Toys"R"Us Facebook fan page a jumpstart on developing their holiday shopping lists, a special preview of the Biggest Big Book will be uploaded to the site starting this Friday. Available as a viewable image, fans of Facebook.com/Toysrus can flip through all 80 pages of the catalog.

Additionally, to coincide with the release of the Biggest Big Book in newspapers nationwide, Toys"R"Us will launch a downloadable version of the holiday catalog as a complimentary App, available only on iTunes for the iPod Touch and iPhone, beginning Nov. 1. The App will allow customers to sort through products available in the Toys"R"Us Biggest Big Book, develop their gift list and share it with friends and family. With the App, users can also see Toysrus.com customer ratings of each featured product and find the closest Toys"R"Us store.
