10/6/2008

WAYNE, N.J. Toys"R"Us announced that it has ramped up its safety microsite, www.ToysRUs.com/Safety, to help kids stay safe on Halloween. The site now includes Halloween-themed tips from Safe Kids Worldwide, the world's leading childhood injury prevention organization. Toys"R"Us stores across the country also will host special Trick "R" Treat events on Oct. 31 from 1p.m. to 5p.m., where kids will be able to participate in "Geoffrey's Costume Parade," collect treats and take "Geoffrey's Safety Pledge," a checklist with key tips for parents to review with their children before trick-or-treating created by Toys"R"Us and Safe Kids Worldwide.

"We love kids, and we want to help keep them safe at all times, including when they're dressing up as their favorite action heroes, TV stars, ghouls or princesses on Halloween," said Greg Ahearn, senior vp of marketing and e-commerce for Toys"R"Us, U.S. "As our littlest customers prepare for their Halloween celebrations, we're helping parents avoid any real scares by offering Halloween safety tips, along with a broad assortment of Halloween safety products, reflective accessories for costumes and more."

Toys"R"Us Times Square also will host a grand-scale Halloween party from 1p.m. to 5p.m., which will include the costume parade, face painting, appearances by characters from Broadway's Young Frankenstein, demos of the new Goosebumps videogame and more.
