Starbucks anticipates record gift card purchases Dec. 24

Seattle - Starbucks Corp. anticipates record purchases of Starbucks gift cards on Dec. 24, citing the trend for customers to push their gift card purchases later and later. In 2013, more than 2 million Starbucks Cards were purchased in the U.S. and Canada on Christmas Eve, representing nearly 1,500 cards purchased per minute.



This year, Starbucks is offering more than 100 different gift card designs. Starbucks is also running a holiday promotion where North American consumers who pay using a Starbucks card (registration not required) or Starbucks mobile app are registered to win one of 14 Ultimate Starbucks Cards. These 14 cards give the prize of Starbucks for Life, which is one free food or beverage item from participating stores every day for the next 30 years.
