Sam's Club reveals deals through texting

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Sam's Club is tapping in to the growing trend of mobile marketing with a new text messaging program designed to alert shoppers to Black Friday sales.

By texting "GO" to sams1, shoppers can sign up to receive an exclusive e-mail preview of some the holiday merchandise on sale. According to Sam's Club, there is no premium fee, just the standard text messaging rate, and users can choose to register online if they prefer.

“We understand the time pressures everyone faces especially during the holidays and we want to make the experience of shopping with us easy and fun,” said Greg Spragg, evp of merchandising at Sam’s Club.    

Items on sale include flat screen televisions, electronics and jewelry, Sam's Club announced. The day-after-Thanksgiving goods are to remain unnamed until the sneak peek reveal begins Monday, Nov. 19 and throughout the week leading up to the shopping rush on Friday, Nov. 23.
