Round two for Bennett at Target
Legendary crooner Tony Bennett must live by the proverb if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life. He just observed his 85th birthday, has an exclusive deluxe edition of his album “Duets II” hitting Target stores today and is scheduled to perform throughout the United States during the remainder of the year. The new album is the second time Bennett has offered an exclusive mix of songs at Target with the first being the 2006 release of “Duets An American Classic.”
Bennett called the Target version of the album -- which includes two extra songs -- a special gift to his fans. The bonus cuts include duets with Brad Paisley and soprano singer Jackie Evancho. Bennett partners with Paisley for a version of “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and Evancho for a rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star.” Hardcore Bennett fans also have an opportunity to download an exclusive video at Target.com that explores the making of “Duets II.”
“Tony Bennett has legions of music fans that span generations and genres,” said John Butcher, Target’s VP entertainment. “His music is timeless and we welcomed the opportunity to partner with Tony again to produce a deluxe edition of “Duets II” for Target.”
Bennett has been singing professionally for more than 60 years, has won 15 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. His first No. 1 hit single, “Because of You,” came in 1951.
