RadioShack just named who as its chief creative officer?

12/3/2015

An entertainer, actor and television personality — who also happens to be the ex-husband of recording star Mariah Carey — has been tapped as the creative head of the reborn RadioShack.

The chain announced it has hired Nick Cannon as its chief creative officer. And he won’t just be a figurehead or celebrity pitchman, according to the company.

RadioShack said Cannon will play an “active role in the development of RadioShack-exclusive products as well as helping to further transform the retailer into the must-visit electronics destination, from curating the music selection to performances and events.”

RadioShack and I are going to create a lot of cool things together in the coming months, and I can't wait to tell you all about it," said Nick Cannon.

In addition, Cannon will also help the company continue to grow its educational and S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering and math) initiatives nationwide. He will maintain an office at RadioShack headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.

“With Cannon's innate, innovative drive and authentic connection to RadioShack, he is the perfect person to join our team. RadioShack is back," said Michael Tatelman, RadioShack's chief marketing officer.”

RadioShack, which filed for bankruptcy last year, is owned by General Wireless, which acquired the storied brand in March 2015. The new RadioShack has over 1,700 company-owned stores, including 1,400 Sprint Stores at RadioShack, and nearly 500 independent dealers located nationwide.
